Updates from the Site June 14
Hi all,
Here are the updates I have collected over the last two days in nor particular order and copied and pasted as I have collected them.
News from the land: Please be careful digging near the Old Oak Trees -- they are sensitive and with all the moisture very
susceptible to a disease. Please do not dig shitters, dump grey water nor compost, nor disturb the ROOTS --- I speak for
the TREES and PLEASE SHARE>>>>.
Thank you folks on the land. The site is beautiful and many are working hard to build the village'. Dogs are mostly leashed, cars are parking as directed, locals are visiting and very curious and friendly, cops and biologists are visiting, Ahoums (Ohmmm, Aum) are happening, all systems are go.....
Heard about the Rainbow Gathering on WOJB radio this morning, 89.9 FM. That is a native owned, community radio station very near to the gathering site. They are interested and hoping to learn and share more.
Greetings Kitchens of Rainbow!
Even though we will be pumping and filtering a lot of water, due the the topography of the site there is a good chance that your kitchen will have to make water runs to the places where filtered water is delivered to.
Be sure to bring many 5 gallon water jugs and consider brining a deer cart, dolly or wagon!
Just to inform you all, its bear dog training season and the Gathering spot is a very popular place for bear hunters. They've already been baiting bears there for a month (and therefore have a lot of time and money invested). Be prepared to have contact with bears and or bear hunters. I live within walking distance of the Gathering and had a bear on my surveillance camera last night.
There is a famous bear...a 3 legged momma that Delta loves. She has 4 large cubs that are 2 years old. They literally hang out at the intersection of Scenic Drive and Canthook Lake. We're setting up shop in the most heavily populated bear population of Wisconsin. That goes for wolves too but they'll stay away.
I fish Canthook Lake all the time and am very familiar with the woods in the area.
